Almost A Christmas Carol
Pantomime - 2M
An uppity classical actor, ready to perform as Scrooge, can’t believe that a mere backstage worker can tread the boards and successfully play all the other characters from Dickens perennial Christmas classic.
Almost A Christmas Carol is a two-man, scaled-down and laughed-up family friendly fun romp through nasty Mr Scrooge’s magical meetings with Christmas Ghosts, Past, Present and Future.
This one-act slice of pantomime hilarity will captivate family audiences everywhere, as we see if the Ghosts can redeem Mr Scrooge from his nasty ways and save poor Tiny Tim!
Almost A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Comedy - 2M 1F
Humphrey DeForest Brassington-Jones is an award-winning actor, writer and director, but his traveling troupe of players are seriously delayed on the motorway. Rather however, than to deny the audience their summer dose of Shakespeare, Humphrey will endeavour to play every part in A Midsummer Night’s Dream himself!
Enter two enthusiastic but not entirely helpful volunteers – Jack, the Council gardener and Ms. Anneka Drable, a tweedy professor of English Literature, both of whom may or may not know more about it all than Humphrey!
Join us where the gardens meet the riverbank for Almost a Midsummer Night’s Dream.
What the Puck is going on?
Yo ho ho and a bottle of fun!
Almost Treasure Island
Comedy - 2M 1F
A lifetime of historic research and several metal-detecting finds by amateur archaeologist and metal-detecting enthusiast Phil Hellings have confirmed that Treasure Island, as written by Robert Louis Stevenson, is not a work of fiction, but an account of historic fact!
Crowds gather to witness the excavation of this historic site, under the somewhat self-serving watch of local MP Sir Giles Spicer and up and coming local journalist Natalie Deniro, and witness the uncovering of all sorts of treasures…
A tobacco tin, a parrot, a flintlock pistol, a full mast of sails and rigging, and a very real dead man’s chest!
Will history be rewritten? Will Phil get the credit? Will Natalie will get a scoop? And will Sir Giles ever learn!
